2644 - Tutorial week 1
1.Explain in your own words, what is motion capture.
Setting tracker on Key parts of the object in motion (like human body) and the system captures the location of the tracking devices. Then get the three-dimensional coordinates of the data obtained by processed of computer. This data can be used in many different places like animation or games.
2.Explain in your own words, what is the connection between Zoe-trope, Rotoscope, Motion-capture.
Zoe-trope: It is the oldest technique of motion. Putting many static pictures into a device and then run the device, so that the object image generating the illusion of rapid movement.
Rotoscope: It always be use in animation technique, artist draws many pictures and put them one by one, frame by frame to show a continuous movement in animation. Operating principle is similar to Zoe-trope
Motion-capture: Using machine like camera to record a process of movement on key parts and translating that movement on to a digital model. Then use computer to reflect these movement data in the three-dimensional space. This technique is usually used on film video and game now.
3.Choose a Game or a Movie and explain/ show videos, their motion capturing process, company name, year, clip.

4.Magnetic
Advantage:
(1)It records the six-dimensional information that it can not only get space position, but also directional information obtained.
(2)Fast and when the performers show, the role models in the animation system can facilitate rehearsal, adjustment and modification.
(3)Calibration device is relatively simple, mature technology.
(4)Lower cost.
Disadvantages:
(1)The disadvantage is that it is demanding on the environment, the performance cannot have metal objects near the site, which will affect the accuracy.
(2)System allows the range of optical performance is small, especially cables will limit the activities of the performers.
(3)It does not apply to more intense activities and performances.
