Assessment Report

Introduction
For this assessment we are required recorded 11 seconds in the MOCAP system. Use this kind of technical skills represent our ability create our own animations.

Project plan
1. Choose one sounds effect as the story background.
2. Make up a story and draw them on the pepper as a storyboard.
3. Go to MACAP room to record our movement.
4. Clean our animation on Motion Builder.
5. Create a environment for the story.
6. Put character with animation into the stage.

Body
Set up stage
We been using the character which we already have form teacher, first I should have a shortage for editing, there are some sound effect options give us, I picked one of them as my story background. Than we have to make up a story board to demonstrate what our stories is. I used MOCAP room to record shortage several times to select the best one from it, I took 10 takes for the shortage and pick the last one as my official animation. than I used Motion Builder software to fix some problems. Once I done it, I import the completed FBX file to my character’s skeleton to see what is it look’s like, find the problems such as sharking and unnatural part fix in Graphic Curve Editor. Than I used 3D MAX created an environment which is suit for my story.

Dialogue stage
A: “I thought that…”
A: “If I could help ….”
A: “Him in some way”
A: “Get this em…..”
A: “em…this girl that he loves, that maybe you know….”
A: “…”
A: “Things would …”
A: “Change for me”

Expression and Body language
This conversation start at a living room, he stands beside sofa and the other guy sit on the sofa looking and listening to him.
“I thought that…” He is standing there and put both hand beside his leg naturally (close action)
“If I could help ….”His body sharking a little bit
“Him in some way” His head move back and forward
“Get this em…..” He is feeling uncomfortable right this moment
“em…this girl that he loves, that maybe you know….” In here we can see his eye movement
“…” He rise his left hand grab his noise (close action)
“Things would …” His body still sharking
“Change for me” Figure point at himself (open action)

Principles of animation shown
For doing these things to demonstrate what we can do and get from the Motion Capture System and understanding the system’s process. Practice cleaning and exporting process from different software to other. This is our first experience to use this kind of system to create our own animation, we can learn a lot of new things from it.

Props using
-Video camera
-MOCAP system
-3D MAX
-Motion Builder

MOCAP process
-turn on the big screen and make sure it is in 120 FPS
-connect the system to the internet
-open Motion Builder software go to Device section drag into screen
-click “online” and rest of the blank box and click crate new
-categorize it than it is already to use

Capturing problems
P: when someone stands in the MOCAP room the character on the screen are sharking all the time.
F: we go to foot set up section make sure it’s on the minimum.
We recreated user model file again and load it
P: sometimes even we sent some one into MOCAP room do some movements but it won’t shows on the screen.
F: we find we didn’t characterize the model than we fix it.
P: when we recording the character still moving and shaking.
F: we give advice improve some parts of movement because it might be too close to each other.

Conclusion
I had very valuable experience from the subject. From planning to finish animation, and some part of the progress are totally new for me, although I suffered a lot problems during the time but I learned how to find the problems and fix it by teamwork. The most important is I learned the principle of MOPCAP system, how we set up and use the character we made in 3DMAX import into system.
