Report 3D Animation “11 sec “.
This is first animation where I used motion capture to animate my character. At AIT it is recommended to not capture more than 1 character at the same time as it involves more work. Even though I still wanted to make more than one character because I want to test my 3D skill and try something that I never tried before. This report will show progress and how this project is done.

Sound: On the team
I decide to use this sound because I think it easy to understand and when I hear this sound I got a lot of idea immediately the why I choose this sound.

Dialogue given: on the team it has conversation between 2 people
A : What is that mean I’m on the team.
B : Yeah kid you are in the team.
A : Thank you.
B : Hey hey come on what put to shoe that
A : Wa hahaha haaaaaa.

Expression to convey, Concepts:

In this animation I decided to have 3 characters, first one is doctor, second is janitor and last one is patient. Every character will be has expression by them self. I make janitor look like to be a crazy guy. I make doctor to be a lazy guy. For patient he is normal person.


Body Language, what are open, close actions:

Body Language of janitor will make him look like a crazy guy. When he finds something interesting he will suddenly forgot what he is doing. In the first scene when he knows he can join a team he is shocked and the body language shows by him freezing and the size of the eye changes which makes him look like stupid person. In scene 4 when the janitor laughs he shows body language by opening his mouth bigger than normal and moves his whole body so he is facing upward. It shows he is not usually human. For the doctor we never see him move much except from the body language from his eyes. It makes him look like person who doesn’t care about anything except for his work and how to finish his work. The last character is the patient, in the last screen he so scared of the doctor and janitor, he does this by showing body language by putting his hand to defend himself and moving his head from left to right.

Principles of animation shown: In this Animation I use a lot of principle of animation when janitor walks in the third scene. You will see him walk not normal. You can know about how he felt while he walks. The second principle of animation I use in the scene four. In scene the janitor it will be jump and hit in to the head of patient.

MOCAP process: First time I just try to record an animation of my character but I did not get what I wanted before I went to the motion room. I did not design the body language and what I wanted to be recorded so I just kept records of all the takes and I think I will pick the best one at my home. After I import my prop and all of my character together I found something that makes me want to change some processes. In different scene I used motion capture to animate my character in different ways. These scenes include scene 2 where the doctor has to talk with the janitor. I want to see 2 of the characters at the same time so I focus the face of the doctor so he just moves his mouth and his head a little bit so I don’t need to use motion capture to animate him. Second time I already know what I want and which part I need to use motion capture to make my animation look good. The third time, I have to use motion room because I forgot to record clip of myself when I animate my character. For last time I spend only 10-15 min to finish what I want.

Problems: Problem of this project. First problem I encountered was that I never used motion capture before so I don’t know what I can do or what I can’t. Sometimes when I wanted to do something it didn’t work as well as I hoped it could which makes me spend a lot of time to fix it. After I finished recording my animation and I want to clean my animation I had a lot of problems. If I try to cleaning in motion builder it was fine but if I try to cleaning in 3dmax there was always an issue like the position of my character. In motion capture it will record position every frame so if I want to change position of my character in 3d max I need to change data every frame and delete the old and re create it again. Second thing is in motion capture when you push your hand close with your body your character it is going to be problem for some action. I can avoid this problem for some actions but some action I cannot, like when I try to jump and hit at the same time, I have to use the other hand to make my body balance. However I can fix this problem in motion or 3d max but if you really focus the animation that I cleaned it didn’t look realistic maybe because my skill is not good enough. The last problem is that I can’t capture 2 characters in motion room at the same time so something what I think will look cool it will be impossible to do or if I still want to do I have to find the other way to do.
