2956_Assignment1(report and character trailer)

Nowadays, media industry are developing with a incredible speed. But luckily, as an AIT students, I have a great chance to experienced on this advanced technique. It is very exciting that my character can follow my action. The accurate action replace the hand making animation which are not very realistic. As every technology, when I use it, there are some problems. With those problems solved, it helps me to understand and lean it well.


Firstly, I started to choose my sound and motions. In order to use the system well, I choose 'look at me' as my sound. The sound voice are stressful but funny. It may have a lot of challenge. Time line is short, there are few action to play. But the all the action in the scene should be smooth.


Before I start recording, I just play with the system some times. I practice the system with tutorial and my own model. To familiar with the system is not a easy business. My first problem is appear at device setting up. Because I did not calibrate myself in the system, no matter how I set up the character does not follow my action correctly. With finishing the calibration, testing is prefect on my character.


The first few takes looked very poor. I do the same action as my motion list. But the system did not recognise me action well. When I rotate my hand or arm, my character always twist. Sometimes, the hand or arm get in to the body. I try to slow down some actions and change the system FPS up to 120f/s. Then there less twist, when I record. Even there some twist, it can fix in the motion builder easily. But, still, the hand and arm still get into the body parts. My classmate recommend me that I can move more further. For example, if I put my hand in front of my chest, I can put my hand a little bit further from my body. If there is shaking hand, I can do it stronger like punch.


Cleaning is more easy. I try to fix every problem at recording stage. So when I clean the animation in mo-builder. It seems easy. In the 3D max, I fix some little problems in the curve editor.

    You have interesting environment!I like it:)if your camera is closer, it would be better. Also what's happening to the character's face at the end?? is that teeth? or is he becoming skeleton?

    i think u still need to clean some movements , like the hands, i saw the left hand just go through the right one.
