1.What is Motion Capture in your own words?
It's an assitant method which is used to record human actions so 3D animation and gaming staff could save the time and effort they had spent on testing and simulating those movements when they didn't have this technique developed.
2.Why do we use it? When do we use it over hand animating( cell animating)?
As mentioned above, it could massly save time and effort that used to spend on simulating human or animal movements. You could use it anywhere that requires a 3D model applying.
3.Who is Eadweard Muybridge, what does he have to do with motion capture?
He is an English photographer who is known as "the Father of Motion Capture", as he start the way of capturing movements by multi angle cameras in still photographic.
4.Who is Etienne-Jules Marey, what's the connection with zoetrope & rotoscoping?
He is a scientist who work on human body functions, and he invented the proto form of morden motion capture.
Zoetrope is the most ancient animate skill which is believed to be developed by China, it could be considered as the origin of rotoscoping - a tranditional animate way that based on live-action film frames.
5.What is another name of Zoetrope?
Zoogyroscope.
