Organic motion capture technology is a new type of motion capture by using many 2D cameras around a room when the person acting moves around the room. It has no markers or suit stuff, which is the biggest positive. No wearing means actor can actually do no limit action. They can do whatever in the room without worrying the dots dropping down. Prosthetic motion capture suit, compared to the organic one, has more disadvantages. Prosthetic motion capture is an external structure attached to a limb or part of the body. Included in this structure is a series of encoders that measure the rotation and position of the performers body as he moves, so that their motion can be analysed. We have a lot of limitation when we want to use our suit. Cause the structure of it, we cannot do acrobatic moves such as big jump, roll, rotate… And for not breaking some part of the suit, we should avoid some rapid or huge move. There is a cable for this suit, which means the space of the movement is also limited. We may not use prosthetic motion capture to do some actions such as falling down. It is not possible to do with the limitation of the suit. And some other actions such as looking around or opening the door may be animated by hand cause it’s easy to hand animate.
Organic motion capture allows us to do more complicated actions and it can make the process more easily. The system requires no suit or attachments, which means the actor can do many motions, as they want, the acrobatic motion can be done. Many motions and be done more easily such as running than using the prothetic motion capture. Some animation was made by hand can be finished easily with the organic motion capture. The laying down or falling down motions cannot be done by the prosthetic one, but it will be easily in the organic motion capture.
If we can use organic motion capture, the first advantage is that it is easy to wear because nothing need to wear, which means it will be more comfortable for actor to do action. At the same time, the actor can do more special move. Secondly, the data do not need to be clean. The suit we have now, bring us a huge work to clean the data, which is boring and lots of work, but the organic suit can avoid this . I’m looking forward to using it.

Prosthetic motion capture:Prosthetic motion capture is a suit which is an external structure attached to a limb or part of the body. Included in this structure is a series of encoders that measure the rotation and position of the performer’s body as he moves, so that their motion can be analyzed. There are several different types of prosthetic motion capture systems. Gloves and some other electromechanical suit are also included.
The advantages of Prosthetic systems are:
1) Portable – needs no dedicated space
This advantage means the prosthetic motion capture can be moved and set up quickly and easily. Prosthetic motion capture has not much stuff, it can be moved, though it’s not light. Comparing to the organic motion capture, which has a special and many camera, the prosthetic one is really small.

2) Quick setup – can be calibrated with presets
The setup of the prosthetic motion capture is easy. Here is some main step to setup the suit. Remove the manikin and the head piece from the cupboard, then put them on the actor. When we place the waist on the actor, we should make sure the actor doing the strap around the waist first before moving down. Then we put the lag part on and connect all the cables. As we can see, to set up it is easy and quick in about 20 minutes.

3) Unaffected by metal objects
For this advantage, we should look at the magnetic motion capture. Magnetic Motion Capture is a series of sensors that magnetically measure their relationship in space to a nearby transmitter. As with acoustic, these magnetic sensors are placed at joints in order to capture the subjects movements. As we can see, the magnetic motion capture will be affected by some metal stuff, which is not convenient, but the prosthetic systems can avoid it.
4) Line of sight not required
We know that the organic motion capture uses the camera the capture the motion. Which means the actor should do all the move in a special room without anyone around, or the sight will be blocked. Its not good enough for the director to talk to the actor.
5) Theoretically no distance limit
The prosthetic system using cable to connect and transform data, which means the limit of distance depends on the length of the cable
6) Low lag (refresh rate)
When we do the capturing motion, we can see the motion in the computer at the mean time because it has low lag, which can help us to know which part we did is good and which is not.

The disadvantages of Prosthetic systems are:
1) Exoskeleton may be undesirable
The skeleton system of the prosthetic system is not good enough. So when we capturing the motion, the motion we capture may be not good even funny and not really because it may be undesirable.

2) Impossible to perform acrobatic moves
It’s one of a big problem of it, we cannot do acrobatic moves such as big jump, roll, rotate and some other moves. The limitation makes us to hand animate some part of our animation, which is not real and easy.
3) Not widespread
Although the theoretically no distance limit sounds good, but it is still not widespread because of the cable, and we should be careful when we using it.

5) Parts wear down quickly
Some parts of the prosthetic may wear down when we using it, and it actually bring us many inconvenient part. We need to fix all the problem before we restart to do the action.

The advantages of Organic systems are:
1)Nothing to wear
We do not have and suit or stuff to wear for the organic system, which is really convenient and easy. We can start do the move without any dots or marker which we always worry to drop them2)Nothing to attach
Nothing to attach means we don’t need to worry about the action we did may broke some part of the suit and make the animation not good.3) No need to calibrate dots
Dots are easily to drop down and which is really inconvenient.4) Doesn’t matter about marker blockage
As we can see in the disadvantage of the prosthetic one, the marker blockage is annoying for the actor to do the animation.
5)No need to plan out elaborate tracking sessions
The cables can affect the animation actually, when we are doing some move, we may affected the mass of the cables. But we don’t need to worry about it with the organic system.
6)No data to clean
The data do not need to be clean. The suit we have now, bring us a huge work to clean the data, which is boring and lots of work, but the organic suit can avoid this.
7)Any acrobatic moves are welcomed
With the prosthetic motion capture system, we can not do many acrobatic moves. But in the organic system, we can do whatever we want, because we do not have any suit.

The disadvantages of Organic systems are:
1)Cannot not be used out side2) Does not track facial motion3) Props cannot be tracked by the system4) Unable to track fingers but only tracks the whole hand as one
