Firstly, I want to introduce the prosthetic motion capture, and then we can know more about this suit not better than organic motion capture.

Prosthetic motion capture is a suit which is an external structure attached to a limb or part of the body. Included in this structure is a series of encoders that measure the rotation and position of the performer’s body as he moves, so that their motion can be analyzed. There are several different types of prosthetic motion capture systems. Gloves and some other electromechanical suit are also included.

Our school’s suit is too old to control the motion capture, and also some parts of the motion capture are already not work anymore. This motion capture is too heavy and also we always to wear it take more than 20 minutes. We must get it from the big cabinet, and packaging them to one classmate. If only this problem I think we can accept that, but not only this one, but also this suit always crush, and in debugging time, it is not easy to control, like a kid, we must try a lot of time to fix it. These are all small problem, the biggest problem is the suit always broken, that is most make us headache. And also it is the most hard to solved.

In my project, my character is a boy, he is very cute, my motion is make him jump to walk, like zombie, but this zombie is a Chinese Zombie, it is not just hold the hands up to walk, but also it jump to walk. At the beginning, I want to do a motion which is my character jump but make its legs cured, but when I want this action to be achieved, the suit who wore said it can not cured like I said. It is all because the suit is too old and it can not to that action anymore. Then I just make it jump comfortable.

I guess organic motion is more comfortable to wear, and it is softer when you wear it. And the most we cared is that this suit is easier to control and it can do any action which we want. That is means it can save our time to wear and fix the actions. Now motion capture can use in film, web, live events, scientific research, biomechanical analysis, engineering, and education. It is already more and more convenience to use in our daily life.

Prosthetic motion capture:

Prosthetic motion capture is a suit which is an external structure attached to a limb or part of the body. Included in this structure is a series of encoders that measure the rotation and position of the performer’s body as he moves, so that their motion can be analyzed. There are several different types of prosthetic motion capture systems. Gloves and some other electromechanical suit are also included.
The latter type of prosthetic motion capture could be an ideal approach if it wasn’t for the complex mechanical requirements and the performance-inhibiting qualities generally associated with such designs. Prosthetic motion capture uses potentiometers on the
aforementioned plastic exoskeleton that an actor must ‘wear’, and then act out his or her movements. This technique is obviously only of use in humanoid character animation, but is very accurate and transmits real-time data at a far greater range than any other
technology. The suit is cumbersome but its advantages mean that prosthetic motion capture has thrived.


Organic motion captures:

Under development for four years, Organic motion’s founder Andrew Tschesnok’s efforts yielded hundreds of thousands of lines of now patent-pending code which makes up the heart of the first commercial marker less motion capture system. Organic motion broke from the pattern comparison approach completely. Tschesnok created a thinking system which looks at people in a manner very similar to the way the Brian process human vision.

If the artist has access to real-world character movement. Organic Motion has done well selling motion-capture systems for such purposes.


Advantages:
1. Real actions. Before, we did the computer cartoon movies, we used to the 3D software, like 3D MAX and MAYA, to make some 3D characters and fix the actions by hand. The whole character’s actions are all designed by people and fixed by people. It is not looks like real. And always use the 3Dmax to do the actions will take a lot of time, and some actions looks ugly. But if we use the motion capture, it can make your character’s actions like real.
2. Make the movie faster: if a movie need a lot of action data, but in limited time and budget, use a lot of animator to fix every character’s action one by one, it is unrealistic, and also we did the actions by hands, the effect is not idealization. But if we use motion capture, we can make some actions in just few minutes. And on a small scale of production crew and an actor can make a lot of actions in one afternoon.
3. Control the artistry quality: Direct can guide the actor to use the motion capture, and look at the actor’s face, and say the actions are not enough to make. Technicians can see the motion capture’s movie in couple minutes, and it has flexibility, because if I want to change the action, I just need to tell the actor to do the action again.
4. The actor has a huge place to display the actions.
5. It has not cable to hold.
6. Sampling time quickly. It is use the computer to account numbers, so it is more comfortable to record.
7. Unlimited capture volume.

Disadvantages:
1. Anaphase time too long.
2. It is hard to positioning.
3. The place’s lights, reflection must provided to control, it will be a very hard part of use it.
4. Mistake data. Some times, the motion capture will got some mistakes, but it is still be recorded, we must fix after finished.
5. No cameras, this is a big problem.
6. Some hard actions: Some hard actions, so we sometimes also need some other things to help us. Like Wire.
7. Need a lot of people to do this job, it will effect the plan.
