1.Explain in your own words, Why do we use motion capture instead of doing hand/normal keyframe animations?

Using hand animation is really hard to show the facial expression racily. Even you record a person facial expression and body movement into the computer, it is still really hard to animate as normal key frame at any programme. However, recording these detail movement and import them as data into the computer at the same time that will be more easy and ideographic.

2.Explain in your own words,in 10 - 15 steps, how to put the suit on, adjust, configure, test, direct, record, convert, export and import motion capture suit & data.


Put the suit on:
1. Move the model with the model to a large space.
2. (put the suit from the top to the bottom)Loose the titanium from the head suit which connect between body and head. Then put the head suit to the actor’s head.
3.Focus on the actor’s chest and put the top suit on the actor. Place the two arm holder in tight position and put the hand belt on actor’s hand and warp the tape around and make them tight.
When the actor was put the top suit, one people hand to holding the back potentiometer with the suit.
4.Put the foot sensor right under actor's feet and Put leg suit in right position and belt it tight, warp the tape cross around with the foot suit. connect the wires between foot suit and leg suit.
When the actor was put the leg suit, one people hand to holding the back potentiometer with the suit.
5.Connect the titanium between leg suit and body suit
6. Connect the cables between the leg suit and the X-ist box.


Adjust:
1. Using the spanner the adjust the back screw and make sure those screws are symmetry.
2. Adjust the top suit and the leg suit that should be distance from actor’s body two finger space.
3. Using the gyro to fix up the titanium at the head suit and body suit. the gyro at the head suit should adjust outwards and the the other one should adjust inwards.


Configure:
Turn on the process box bottom and wait for the machine collect the data. It will flash 3 times to ready to work.(1st collecting the info from the suit and testing the induction point, 2nd send the data to the computer, 3rd combine both 2 points.)Lastly, turn on the x-ist Box.


Test:
Opening the VipperMaster to test the model on the computer and ask actor do some action figuring the body, hands, head and foot test.

Direct& Record:
Tell the actor what action you him to do. Open the X-ist recorder and press play and build a new folderl and rename the file name as your student number.
at least record 3 times for each action

Convert export and import motion capture suit & data.:
what you record at X-ist recorder is a “.xrc” file, you have to open the 3ds max 4 to converse those fil into “csm” file and import them into the biped. Then you save them as the “.bi” file.

3.Good and bad experience with the prosthetic motion capture suit/system.

Good experience:
It is really easy to catch the movement from the actor as data and import to the computer. After personal experience putting the suit to the actor, it makes me has more interest about MoCap and I am really exciting about what i can do for my model.

Bad experience :It takes time to put the suit on the actor and the suit make the actor really uncomfortable. when suiting the MoCap, it might hurt people because the titanium.The cables length has limit and it is heavy so that the actor is hard to have a rest.

4.What are you expecting to see different or interested in the new system?

I expect to see the system can be more easy to wear and more movable. The actor can do more action like bending the body and the hands can do more action.
